Mercato Metropolitano Mayfair

Have you ever been to a food hall in a church? If not, you must not have heard of Mercato…

Mercato Mayfair is undoubtedly the most beautiful and unusual food hall in London.

Situated next to the lively Oxford Street, Mercato Mayfair is the second site of Mercato Metropolitano. The original location, in a restored church, makes Mercato a unique and incredible place. The church was deconsecrated in the 1970s and cost over £5 million! The original stained-glass windows and other elements such as tombstones have been preserved. You can admire the beautiful architecture while enjoying your food or your cocktail, in a charming, unique and warm location.

Mercato is the new place to be for food lover.

Made up of several floors, you can find dishes from all around the world and especially from the authentic Italian cuisine. They offer food for all diets as they have a vegan and vegetarian options. We can find a grocery on the ground floor which offers seasonal produce, fresh ingredients and artisanal bread. There are two floors of food traders and bars, with a wide choice of dishes. For instance, the Santo Grill and Wine is an Italian steakhouse where you can taste grilled meats, truffle sandwiches, steak and much more.

On the rooftop terrace, you can enjoy your food. Finally, in the Basement you can find an authentic wine cellar, exclusively Italian wines. Moreover, you can meet an expert in cheese and charcuterie and get sharing board.

Personally, I have tested Fresco which makes excellent pizza and Valentine has tested the burrito. We both enjoyed it on the rooftop on a sunny day!

I also tested the truffle handmade tagliatelle from Pasta Lovers. Creamy and topped with fresh parmesan, I highly recommended it!

Mercato Mayfair Metropolitano is the new place to visit!

Notice that in any case of future lockdown, while being temporarily closed, it will not abandon its loyal customers. Note that you will be able to shop online on their groceries and test new fresh foods. Indeed, during the first lockdown, their website showed videos of their chef in which they promoted new dishes, recipes and fun ways to cook food at home. For example, you could learn how to make homemade pasta.

Spotted: Mercato Metropolitano is coming soon to Berlin!

It was a little foretaste of what to expect while coming back to London after the winter holidays, hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
